Welcome to the Department of Geology and Planetary Science!

This site describes recent work using or related to reflection seismic research at the Department of Geology and Planetary Science at the University of Pittsburgh.  This research is partially based upon the recent generous donation of equipment from WesternGeco L.L.C. to the Department of Geology and Planetary Science at the University of Pittsburgh.  The extraordinary kindness of our department's alumni, specifically  Mr. John Seitz and Mr. Ron Bain, made this donation possible.   The help, patience and support of Mr. Jim Swearingen of WesternGeco was critical to this donation.   Click here for a detailed PowerPoint presentation  about all reflection seismic related donations of hardware and software. The kindness and support of GX Technology (an ION GMG Products Division) for allowing students to use MESA Expert and GMG Image is also gratefully acknowledged.
